Craft, handloom and handicraft

From Skill to Enterprise
Craft in India does not have a skill problem. It has an enterprise formation problem. The skill base is enormous, the craft linked categories are the thinnest and flattest in the startup ecosystem, and almost none of that skill converts into a registered, trading enterprise.
Clusters in the Meghalaya pilot
Larnai black pottery in West Jaintia Hills, GI granted 2024, and Umden eri silk and Ryndia in Ri Bhoi, GI granted 2025.
Enterprise formation
Three enterprises per cluster along the value chain, run as a twelve month instrumented pilot.
Who is engaged
Ministry of MSME participation confirmed for Meghalaya. NHDC, DC Handicrafts, PRIME Meghalaya, DPIIT and CSR partners under discussion.
Where it goes next
