The Global Association of MSMEs (GAMSME) recently led a delegation for a meaningful interaction with Ms. Mercy Epao, Joint Secretary (SME), Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.
The delegation comprised Shri Abhijit Sharma, Founder & Chairman, GAMSME; Shri Shyamendra Singh, Chairman, National Council on Eco-Tourism & Hospitality; and Dr. Gaurav Jain, Chairperson, National Council on Growth & Technology Enablement.
The discussion focused on strengthening support systems for MSMEs across key sectors including Agriculture, Handicrafts and Handloom, and Tourism. These sectors are vital to rural livelihoods, employment generation, cultural preservation, and inclusive economic growth.
The interaction highlighted the importance of stronger policy support, market access, institutional partnerships, technology, and capacity building to help grassroots enterprises overcome challenges and grow sustainably.
A key highlight was Ms. Mercy Epao’s focused, straightforward, and problem-solving approach. Her clarity and commitment to enabling enterprise development at the grassroots level made a strong impression on the delegation.
The diverse expertise of the GAMSME delegation also contributed valuable perspectives on tourism, technology, and enterprise growth, creating a constructive platform for exploring future collaboration.
GAMSME remains committed to working with the Government of India and other stakeholders to strengthen the MSME ecosystem and create greater opportunities for enterprises across sectors and regions.
