When Vision Meets Action: GAMSME Delegation Engages Ministry of MSME on Empowering India’s Small Enterprises

Full Story

Some conversations have the power to shape the future of millions. This was one of them.

The Global Association of MSMEs (GAMSME) recently held an inspiring and forward-looking interaction with Ms. Mercy Epao, Joint Secretary (SME), Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, focused on unlocking new opportunities for the small enterprises that form the backbone of our economy.

Leading the delegation was Mr. Abhijit Sharma, Founder and Chairman, GAMSME, accompanied by Shri Shyamendra Singh and Dr. Gaurav Jain.

At the heart of the dialogue was a shared belief that India’s growth story will be written in its villages, workshops, and small businesses. The discussion explored how MSMEs can be empowered across three sectors that touch lives at the grassroots:

  • Agriculture, the lifeline of rural India and the foundation of farmer prosperity.
  • Handicrafts and Handloom, where every thread carries the soul of our heritage and the skill of our artisans.
  • Tourism, a rising engine of enterprise, jobs, and regional pride.

What made the meeting truly memorable was Ms. Epao’s refreshingly straightforward, focused, and solution-driven approach. Her clarity, decisiveness, and genuine commitment to enabling enterprise on the ground reflect exactly the kind of leadership that gives confidence to entrepreneurs and the associations that stand beside them.

Reflecting on the engagement, Mr. Abhijit Sharma noted that real progress happens when intent meets action, and that the Ministry’s energy and openness signal exciting possibilities ahead for India’s MSME community.

GAMSME stands firmly committed to working hand in hand with the Government of India, ensuring that the creativity, resilience, and ambition of our small enterprises are matched with the policy support, market access, and partnerships they deserve.

This is more than a meeting. It is the beginning of a movement to place small enterprises at the centre of India’s growth journey.

Together, let us build an India where every small enterprise has the chance to dream big and rise higher.
